The first step in configuring CIFS access is creating a CIFS domain. To create a CIFS domain, run the protocol cifs domain new command with the following information:
The NetBIOS name of the new CIFS domain
Optionally, the IP address of a WINS server
Optionally, the name of a Kerberos configuration
The name and IP address of a primary domain controller
Optionally, the names and IP addresses of up to four backup domain controllers
The following example creates a CIFS domain that has the NetBIOS name ENG and uses a WINS server that has the IP address 10.1.1.116. The domain uses a Kerberos configuration named AUTH. The domain's primary domain controller is named STORM and has the IP address 10.1.1.116. The domain uses two backup domain controllers: one named RAIN with the IP address 10.1.1.118 and one named HAIL with the IP address 10.1.1.120.
node::>protocol cifs domain new -domain ENG -wins-ip 10.1.1.116 -kerbconfig AUTH -dc1-name STORM -dc1-ip 10.1.1.116 -dc2-name RAIN -dc2-ip 10.1.1.118 -dc3-name HAIL -dc3-ip 10.1.1.120
To display information about CIFS domains, use the protocol cifs domain show command. By default, the command displays the following information about all CIFS domains:
The NetBIOS name of the CIFS domain
The IP address of the WINS server, if applicable
The name of the Kerberos configuration
The name and IP address of the primary domain controller
Other information is displayed in a detailed view and if other parameters are specified. See the reference page for the command for details.
The following example displays information about all CIFS domains:
node::>protocol cifs domain showDomain WINS Kerberos DC DC Name IP Config Name Name IP ENG 10.1.1.116 AUTH STORM 10.1.1.116
The protocol cifs domain modify command enables you to modify the WINS server and domain controllers associated with a CIFS domain. To remove a domain controller from a domain, use the protocol cifs domain remove-dc command. To remove a WINS server from a domain, use the protocol cifs domain remove-wins command.
The following example modifies a CIFS domain named ENG to use a WINS server with the IP address 10.1.1.99.
node::>protocol cifs domain modify -name ENG -wins-ip 10.1.1.99
If you need to remove a domain controller from a CIFS domain, use the protocol cifs domain remove-dc command. The following example removes a domain controller named HAIL from a CIFS domain named ENG.
node::>protocol cifs domain remove-dc -domain ENG -dc-name HAIL
If you need to remove a WINS server from a CIFS domain, use the protocol cifs domain remove-wins command. Because a CIFS domain can use only one WINS server, you need to specify only the affected CIFS domain with the command; you do not need to specify the name or IP address of the WINS server.
The following example removes the WINS server from a CIFS domain named ENG.
node::>protocol cifs domain remove-wins -domain ENG
